Alfredo Mejia, Jr.
Alfredo Mejia, Jr.
Year: So.
High School: Salinas

Freshman Year: Alfredo enjoyed his best race at the Coast Conference Championship placing 10th overall in a Toro Park best 21:50. Alfredo was the fourth best freshmen to finish with only two returning in 2019 counting himself.

Prior to Hartnell: A four year athlete at Salinas High School, Alfredo improved steadily in cross country. He capped his senior year with a fourth place finish at the Salinas City Championship and solid 16:48 over the Woodward Park 5k layout at the Clovis Invitational. On the track, Alfredo qualified to the CCS Championship his final two years. As a senior, he competed in both the 1600 and 3200 meters. He brings to Hartnell personal bests of 2:05, 4:33, 9:54.

"I believe this is the season Alfredo will finally put together the pieces and become great. He realized what he was missing in his off season training and filled that gap and is already seeing the benefits. Alfredo is a pure aerobic runner but as his physical strength improves he's going to be able to use his natural ability more to his advantage. We've set some challenging goals for the season but he's got his teammates to make the journey easier if he follows them."
