Hartnell Defeats De Anza 7-3

On March 22, 2018, Hartnell continued its stretch of conference games as they hosted De Anza College, in hopes of a win and improve their 2-3 conference record. Just last month, on February 27, Hartnell earned a pair of convincing 11-3 and 9-1 wins over Dons, behind Angelina Ruiz 6 hits and 2 RBIs. Jennifer Lafayette started the game on the mound. She pitched 3 innings facing 17 pitchers allowing 5 hits and 3 runs and striking out 1. Hitting the ball was no problem for the Panthers, converting 8 hits into 7 RBIs! Behind the offensive success were sophomores Bethany Cardenas with 2 hits and 2 RBIs and Danielle Caoili with 2 hits, 3 RBIs, and a HR. Caoili also played a key role in the pitching game. The Panthers led 4-3 in the bottom of the 3rd inning, but in the last 4 innings Hartnell shutout De Anza and scored another 3 runs giving them a 7-3 lead by the bottom of the 5th inning. Danielle continued to shine as she pitched in the 4th inning allowing only 3 hits, 0 runs and striking out 3 getting the Hartnell Women's Softball Team a 7-3 conference win against De Anza! The Lady Panthers are currently on a 2-game winning streak sitting with a 10-13 (.435) overall record and a 3-3 (.500) conference record. Next home game for The Lady Panthers will be Thursday, April 12, 2018 against Cabrillo. Go Panthers!!
