Hartnell Looks to Improve Cristeta Almorade scores season-high 12 points

From November 30 - December 1, 2017 the Women’s Basketball team went on the road to Cuesta Community College for Cuesta’s Annual Tournament. Hartnell’s Women’s Basketball team looked to not only enjoy a team bonding experience, but also to compete against some of the most tough Southern California teams. Hartnell started the tournament by playing against home team Cuesta and LA Pierce. Unfortunately, the Panthers fell short against both teams falling 71-49 to Cuesta and 88-66 to LA Pierce. The Panthers (1-5) continued with season play on December 6, 2017 against Reedley College (6-3). Reedley had an impressive start to the game, however in the second Quarter, Hartnell scored 16 points, compared to Reedley’s 24, making the game interesting going into the half 20-44 with Reedley on the lead. Freshman Cristeta Almorade (#3) scored 12 points, 2 assists and 1 rebound as soon as she went on to the court. At the start of the second half, Reedley was on a roll not allowing any type of momentum for Hartnell. Davaughna Thompson (#24) helped the Panthers score by adding 12 points; Davaughna currently Ranks 4th in conference play in scoring, averaging 12.8 points per game. Top Rebounder for Hartnell Illyanna Hendricks (#30) currently ranks 2nd in Conference with 11.5 rebounds per game, unfortunately she was unavailable for this match. Freshmen Alexus Andrade (#21) and Valeria Quinones Liddy (#33) both combined for 5 rebounds and took over the role. Hartnell fell short 42-80 against Reedley. The Panthers now sit at 1-6 (.143) their next game is on the road against Marin on December, 12.
