Baseball Panthers Redeemed
On March 9, 2017, the Hartnell College Men’s Baseball team hosted Monterey Peninsula College. The Hartnell Panthers had fallen to the Lobos earlier that week with a final score of 5-3, however, the boys sought redemption. Both teams started off with back to back strikeouts; they had home plate on lockdown. It was challenging for both teams and they struggled to score a run. Fortunately, Hartnell’s student-athlete Micah Nicely drove in Colby Hirano to score the first run of the game in the bottom of the fifth inning. Studentathletes Dom Ramos hit a homerun and Ryan Clack scored in the bottom of the sixth inning to keep the energy going. From there on out, the Panthers had the game under control and scored two more runs in the seventh inning with the help of Kacee Takasaki and Adam Tanoue. Hartnell Baseball earned three more runs in the bottom of the eighth inning from team players Nick Enrico, Colby Hirano, and Micah Nicely; ending the game at the ninth inning. Hartnell Panthers took the win with a score of 8-0! The Hartnell Baseball team not only recovered themselves from their lost against Monterey on Tuesday, but they broke a three game losing streak as well. The Hartnell College Men’s Baseball Team will host their next home game on March 14, against Skyline College.
