Hartnell Prevails Through 3 Game Road Trip in Monterey
Between November 30 and December 2, 2017, our Panthers Men's Basketball team went on the road for a 3 game stretch in which they prevailed with a positive record of 2-1. vs Irvine Valley On November 30, 2017 Hartnell began its road journey against Irvine Valley as they took part in the Monterey Bay Classic Tournament at MPC. The team suffered a loss for the first time this year, falling to Irvine Valley 72-57. Despite the loss, the Panthers shot the ball well, recording 53.7% on field goals and 38.9% on 3-points. Hartnell only trailed by 6 points at the half; however, Irvine Valley prevailed by recording a 64-41 victory by the end of the contest. Notable contributors for the Panthers were (#24) Rene Hurtado who lead the team in points with 16 and (#22) Spencer Conrad who recorded 7 assists with his 12 points. vs West Valley On December 1, 2017 our Hartnell Panthers bounced back against West Valley at the Monterey Bay Classic Tournament with a convincing 70-60 win. (#11) Mathis Sellins scored 14 points and 12 rebounds, allowing the Panthers to pick up the W, and recover from the previous loss to Irvine Valley. Hartnell’s shooting percentage was right around their season average as they shot the ball at 46.3% and continued to move the ball to record 20 assists for the game. When it came to beyond the 3-point line, the Panthers shot percentage was low at 27.8%. Overall, they were more than capable to get the job done with help from (#5) Kishon Rogers who contributed 16 points off the bench to give the team a big boost and allow them to stay upfront and seal the win. Vs. Santa Barbara On December 2, 2017 the Panthers took on Santa Barbara in the Monterey Bay Classic Consolation Final in which they comfortably won 67-56. (#22) Spencer Conrad exploded for 18 points and 6 assists to go along with (#5) Kishon Rogers 15 points off the bench to give the Panthers their second straight win. Hartnell shot the ball exquisitely recording a 52% field goal percentage and 40% on 3-pt shots to dominate the court against a (1-7) Santa Barbara. The Panthers racked up 21 assists with ease to help four players record double digits in points. With all this firepower Hartnell improved to (5-1) for their overall record.
