Hartnell Men Win 40th Conference Title
The Hartnell College men's track & field team used their depth to win their 40th Coast Conference track & field title. The Panthers scored in all but one event, the 4x100 relay, where they did not complete the pass of the baton but could have scored points. The team also only had one individual winner but dominated through eight places in all the other events.
Sophomore Jesse Blanco picked up a first place medal in the 5000 meters to complete his final conference championship in 15:44.09. He was also second in the 10,000 meters the day before and fifth in the 1500 meters. Freshman Adrian Manriquez was second in the 400mIH (58.13) despite competing in six events on the final day of competition. He was also fifth in the 110HH (17.69) and sixth in the long jump in a personal best 6.43m. His brother Eduadro Manriquez was runner-up in the 400m (50.38) and seventh in the 200m (22.23). Jose Cota almost stole the 800 meters in second at 1:58.61. Jacob Dizon picked up sixth place points in the 800 meters (2:00.21). Armando Amaro Moreno was a suprise fourth place finisher in the discus in a lifetime best 37.58m. Isaiah Garife picked up fifth and Jesus de Alfaro was seventh in the discus. Bryan Ortega cracked eleven meters again to place fourth in the shot put (11.08m). Isaiah Garife in sixth, Justin Mina seventh, and Misael Silva in seventh made the shot put an important event for the Panthers. Gianni Ponce placed sixth in the high jump and eighth in the long jump. Eduardo Morfin was seventh in the 100 meters (11.00) as he works his way back from injury in preparation for his final regional championship. The 4x400 team of both Manriguez brothers, Dizon, and Mauro Rodriguez-Medina were third in 3:25.46.
The Panthers will be on a short week in preparation for the 2025 Northern California Championship to be held May 2-3 at Butte College.
