Men's and Women's T & F Wildcat Cup Recap
The Hartnell women tallied 186 points behind Modesto’s 257. On the men’s side the Panthers scored 145 to Modesto’s 233.
Competing in the sixth ever Wildcat Cup, the Hartnell College Panthers placed second to both the Modesto Junior College women, the defending 3C2A State champions, and the Modesto Junior College men. The Hartnell women tallied 186 points behind Modesto's 257. On the men's side the Panthers scored 145 to Modesto's 233.
Freshman Gabriela Cardenas was a double event winner placing first in the 1500m in 5:01.18. She would return to the track three hours later for the 25 lap 10,000 meter race and record the seventh fastest performance in Hartnell history in the event with a time of 38:48.08. She became the first female in Northern California to achieve the State "A" mark. Sophomore Alexa Flores also completed the 10,000m run in 42:34.64, which dipped under the State "B" qualifying mark. Freshman Deisy Gracida Gabriel was an event winner in the 3000 meters in 11:07.56. Sophomore Jenna Emerson placed second in the 200 meters (26.54) and third in the 100 meters (13.02). She was also third in the long jump (4.78m). Freshman Chantal Ramos-Verdin was third in the triple jump with a personal best 9.27m. Sophomore Belle Caasi was third in the hammer throw (28.01m).
Sophomore Aiden Ishimaru was having a successful freshman campaign but had his season cut short with a broken foot. Ishimaru returned for his sophomore season with a State "B" in the hammer with a mark of 45.26m. Newcomer Erik Luna Bedolla won the 3000 meters in 9:11.06 and his 1500m heat in a lifetime best 4:15.54. Freshman Nathaniel Aceves-Aguilar placed second in the javelin (43.30m). Joshua Na was second in the discus (41.67m). Giovanni Ochoa debuted over 10,000 meters in second place (33:02.00). Ivan Martinez-Galindo was third in the 1500 meters (4:11.25). Freshman Diego Avila-Garcia lowered his lifetime best in the 800 meter to 2:01.55. Giancarlo Mendo placed fourth behind his teammate Martinez-Galindo in the 1500 meters in 4:12.13. Adrian Manriquez was fourth in the 400mIH (58.82). The men's 4x100 opened the year in 43.59. Logan Bayhonan was fourth in the long jump (6.57m) tying his season best. Corbin Osborn lead in the triple jump for the Panthers with his 13.20m season best mark.
The Panthers will head south on February 21st for the Ron Kamaka Open hosted by Mt. San Antonio College. Mt. San Antonio College will be the host of the 2026 3C2A State Track & Field Championship in May.
