Student-Athlete Spotlight Emily Espino
This week’s Student-Athlete Spotlight goes to Emily Espino, #8 on Hartnell’s College Softball team. She plays third base for the Lady Panthers. Many of her teammates consider her the “mom” of the team, on and off the field, due to her leadership skills and her consistent caring and nurturing nature towards her teammates. Emily is one of the few sophomores on the team and is finishing her second season playing for the Lady Panthers. This season Emily has played in 32 games, had 22 hits and 13 runs! After this season, Emily is planning to transfer and continue her softball career at San Diego Christian College. There, she plans to obtain a Nursing Degree. Monterey County is very dear to Emily, as King City is her hometown. She graduated from King City High School where she played softball and volleyball all four years. According to Emily, her father taught her everything she knows about softball as well as her passion for the sport. She is glad she decided to play for Hartnell and is looking forward to transferring to a four-year institution. Congratulations Emily!
