Last week the Hartnell College Women’s Soccer team took part in the Ventura College Soccer Showcase. Their first game was at 8 PM where the panthers took on host, Ventura College. Norma Verduzco, assisted by Priscilla Ruiz scored the first goal of the game at minute 35 and had the lead at halftime. During the second half, Ventura scored its first goal at minute 55, making it a tie for the moment. Then at the 80-minute mark, Ventura scored the second and last goal of the game. “It was a hard fought game against a really good opponent, we had a couple of chances to score in final minutes but were unable to convert,” said Head Coach Ivan Guerrero. The second game of this three-day showcase, the Panthers played against College of the Canyons. Verduzco, assisted by Vanessa Moreno scored a goal. The final score of this game was a 3-1 win by College of the Canyons.
