Panthers Make Moves at Mt. SAC
Traveling nearly six hours south to Walnut, the Panthers tested themselves against some of Southern California's best community college athletes. Sofia Camacho and Isabella Reimann paced the Panthers to two individual wins and Katelyn Strader and Lorraine Mankins made important improvements in their events. Camacho won the 1500 meters in 4:52.42 with Reimann taking the hammer competition with a toss of 43.67m (143-3). Strader hit the State "A" in the hammer placing second with a mark of 43.64m (143-2). She also set a season best in the discus 34.45m (113-0). Lorraine Mankins moved to the top spot in Northern California with her first ever clearance of eleven feet. She topped out at 3.45m (11-3.75). Mankins also hit a personal best in the triple jump (10.80m/35-5.25) and 100mH (17.11). She finished a busy afternoon with 4.74m (15-6.75) in the long jump.
Also on the track, Clodine Tabernilla lowered her 100m to 13.22 as she inches closer to the regional provisional. The women's 4x400 relay team set a season best 4:13.37 with Karla Herrera, Aaliyah Carreras, Roxana Ruelas, and Sofia Camacho. The mark puts the quartet back into fourth in Northern California. Isabella Reimann hit 10.22m (33-6) in the shot put. Mercedes Rosales-Rivera was 9.46m (31-0.5) in the triple jump. Ashley Ochoa placed second in the 3k steeplechase in 12:22.00. Roxana Ruelas won the 400mH in 66.59 and set a lifetime best in the 100mH (16.63). Isabelle Torres was third in the 1500 meters (5:00.37) and fifth in the 5000m (18:48.70).
The Panthers will host a last chance/open meet on Saturday, April 23rd looking to sharpen up for this year's 2022 Coast Conference Championship at the College of San Mateo.
