Reimann's Hammer Title Highlights Day One of Conference
Day one of the Coast Conference Championship at the College of San Mateo witnessed the dual meet between Hartnell and DeAnza continue but this time for the first post-pandemic conference team title. The Panther women trail the Mountain Lions 94 to 61 heading into Saturday's final day. Freshman Isabella Reimann did manage to win the hammer throw competition with a toss of 43.60m. Teammate Katelyn Strader picked up valuable second place points in 42.18m. Jennifer Mendoza contributed in sixth place.
In the women's 10,000 meters, the Panthers racked up 22 points lead by Sofia Camacho in second (40:02.37). Isabelle Torres was third in 40:21.47. Shantal Martinez impressed picking up fifth along with the State "B" Mark in 41:34.62. Joanna Macias was sixth (42:13.72). MPC transfer Daniella Ramirez competed in her first Coast Conference as a Panther and contributed in eighth place (43:13.79).
Lorraine Mankins forced a jump off for the conference pole vault title after clearning all her heights on the first attempt. Chabot's Andie Aymmonds would clear the jump off height to break the tie. Isabella Reimann also placed fifth in the shot put (9.79m) with Katelyn Strader picking up a season best 9.40m for sixth place. Lorraine Mankins also contributed a seventh place in the long jump with teammate Mercedes Rosales-Rivera adding an eighth place.
The Panthers will look to make up a 33 point deficit this Saturday to defend their title from 2019.
