Hartnell College enjoyed the highest total top 3 finishes
The Hartnell College men’s and women’s track & field squads competed in a three way dual meet with Cuesta College and Allan Hancock College on Friday.
The Hartnell College men's and women's track & field squads competed in a three way dual meet with Cuesta College and Allan Hancock College on Friday. The three team challenge followed the unique double dual meet scoring format, scoring only each team versus the other. Hartnell College enjoyed the highest total top 3 finishes with a near even distribution of 11, 13, and 13 first, second and third place finishes combined. They outdistanced host Cuesta College by seven top finishes. The men tallied 20 of the team's 37 top 3 finishes and easily outdistanced Cuesta College by eight top 3 finishes.
Sophomore Jenna Emerson achieved the State "A" mark in her 400mLH debut (66.74) and also placed second in the 100m with a season best 12.87. Emerson also lead the Panthers in the triple jump with a season best 10.34m. Freshman Gabriela Cardenas won two events taking the 2000m steeplechase in 7:45.07 and the 800m in 2:28.96. Freshman Audreyna Ruiz continued to prepare for the regional heptathlon with personal bests in the 100mh (17.17), javelin (27.71m), high jump (1.35m), shot put (7.90m), and long jump (4.29m). Freshman Joceline Carrasco lead in three events. She had team top marks in the hammer (36.83m), discus (28.66m) and shot put (8.73m). Alexa Flores competed well in the 3000m taking second in 11:48.54. Deisy Gracida Gabriel was second in the 800 meters (2:33.41). Angelina Tran debuted over the 2k steeplechase (8:26.57) and 400mLH (1:16.26).
The Panthers will compete in their first four year university hosted outdoor meet on March 6-7 at CSU Stanislaus in Turlock, CA.
