Women's T & F have several top regional and state ranked performances
The Hartnell College women’s track & field team traveled to Turlock for their second 4-year university meet of the 2026 season and returned with several top regional and state ranked performances.
The Hartnell College men's and women's track & field team traveled to Turlock for their second four year university meet of the 2026 season and returned with several top regional and state ranked performances. The meet was contested by twelve college or university teams along with club and unattached athletes.
For the women, Rancho San Juan graduates Gabriela Cardenas and Jenna Emerson both posted State "A" marks in their events. Cardenas kicked off the day with a 1500 meter best of 4:54.74 that placed her tenth in the heavy four year field. That mark is the second fastest in Northern California and sixteenth fastest in Hartnell history. Cardenas also led the Panthers in the 800 meters (2:25.58). Emerson placed third overall in the 400mLH (64.90). This was her first time running sub 65 in March and also moved her into third best in the region and third best in the state. Frosh Audreyna Ruiz continued to enjoy the javelin, posting a personal best 29.00 meter throw as she preps for the heptathlon. Freshman Crystal Madrigal debuted outdoors with a lifetime best 2:27.89 with Deisy Gracida Gabriel running two bests over 1500 meters (5:08.76) and 800 meters (2:28.47). Freshman Angelina Tran readied herself for the 3k steeplechase with a 1500 meters best (5:14.31) and 400mLH (73.33).
The Panthers will split squads over the March 13-14 weekend with the majority of the squad heading to the Pat Ryan Invitational at Santa Rosa Junior College on Friday and the distance squad heading south to the Occidental College Spring Break Classic and Distance Carnivalon Saturday.
