Hartnell College played host to the 2026 Northern Combined Events Championship on April 7-8, providing two team members an opportunity to represent the program and advance to the 3C2A State Championship. In the men's decathlon, a two day, ten event competition, freshman Nathaniel Aceves-Aguilar placed second overall with 5,855 points. His point total was good for thirteenth best in program history and advanced the Watsonville graduate to the state championship on May 16-17 at Mt. San Antonio College. Alisal graduate freshman Audreyna Ruiz competed in her first seven event heptathlon and placed fourteenth in the seventeen woman field.
In the heptathlon, freshman Audreyna Ruiz tallied 3105 points in her first ever seven event competition. A rough start in the 100mh at 18.42 was helped by a season best high jump of 1.31m. Ruiz threw the shot 7.24m and finished day one with a 29.32 in the 200 meters. She started day two with 4.22m jump in the long jump and then shined in her best event the javelin with a third place 28.85m mark. Running her first 800 meters ever finished the day with 2:42.55.
Hartnell College will host its annual Gary Shaw Last Chance Meet on Friday-Saturday, April 17-18.
