The Gary Shaw Last Chance Meet held at Hartnell College provided the men's and women's teams to compete at home prior to the Coast Conference Championship. With several community colleges in attendance along with D3 UC Santa Cruz, the Panthers produced several key marks toward the championship portion of the season.
Jenna Emerson enjoyed a solid final home meet to lead the women. She placed second in the 400 meters (59.41) and 200 meters (25.64). Fellow Rancho San Juan grad Gabriela Cardenas improved on her state leading 3k steeplechase (11:29.32) and also won the 5000 meters (18:43.41). Cardenas pulled teammate Crystal Madrigal to a State "B" 18:44.93 in her debut at the distance. Freshman Angelina Tran set a lifetime best in the 400mLH (1:11.29). Audreyna Ruiz inched closer to the State "A" in the javelin, cracking the 30 meter barrier for the first time in the javelin (30.18). Queen Royal improved in the triple jump to 9.88m as did Chantal Ramos-Verdin (9.32m).
The Panthers will compete next at the 2026 Coast Conference Championship on Friday-Saturday, April 24-25. Friday events will be contested at San Jose City College with the majority of the meet being held at Monterey Peninsula College on Saturday. The Hartnell men are the defending team champions with the women looking to avenge a narrow seven point defeat to De Anza College last year.
