Track & Field State Championships: returned home three All-Americans and several lifetime events bests
Freshman Gabriela Cardenas placed third in the women’s 3k steeplechase after leading all the way until the final barrier.
The Hartnell College men's and women's track & field teams sent eleven individuals to the 2026 3C2A Track & Field State Championship at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut, CA and returned with four All-Americans, several lifetime events bests, and a USA Under 20 Championship qualifier.
Freshman Gabriela Cardenas placed third in the women's 3k steeplechase after leading all the way until the final barrier. She crossed the line in 11:51.89 to earn All-American honors. Fellow freshman Angelina Tran made the podium in her first state championship placing sixth overall in 12:03.85. Sophomore Jenna Emerson completed her illustrious career with two podium finishes. She improved on her freshman finish in the 100mh this time placing sixth in 14.93, the fourth time this spring she eclipsed the 15 second barrier. Jenna earned her second All-State honors in the meet with a fifth place finish in the 400mh (65.44).
Those who also competed at the championship were Corbin Osborn, tenth in triple jump, Joshua Na, tenth place in the discus, Ivan Martinez-Galindo, tenth in the 3k steeplechase, and Deisy Gracida Gabriel, twelfth in the 3k steeplechase.
