The Women's Volleyball Team Went 4-0!

On Wednesday we defeated Consumes River 25-17,28-26, 25-17. Sophomore defensive specialist Esmeralda Nava led the team with 14 digs.  Freshmen middle blocker Justine Warwick contributed 6 kills and 2 service aces. 

The next match that day was against Cuesta College the girls pulled out the win 25-20,25-23,25-20. Sophomore middle blocker Nichole Gomez had 8 kills with no hitting errors and two blocks.Nhean Marquez had 13 digs and 2 service aces.  

On Saturday (9/15) the team traveled to Folsom Lake to play in a three-way tournament with Folsom Lake and Butte. The first match against Folsom went back and forth but the lady panthers pulled out the win 23-25,25-18,25-22,22-25, 15-8. Sophomore outside hitter Sam Shaffer and team captain lead the way with 19 kills, no service errors, and 16 digs.  Sophomore setter Megan Gonzalez tallied 11 kills, 21 setting assists, 3 service aces, 5 blocks and 12 digs.

The CCCAA state rankings has Hartnell ranked 11th in the state (out of 97 volleyball programs) and ranked 5th in Northern California. The current overall record is 10-2. 

Next week we will host Foothill College (9/19) in a conference cross over match at 6:30pm.  The team will travel to Los Medanos (9/21) to play Solano and Los Medanos.
