Hartnell Cross Country Moves to Second In Rankings
For the first time in program history, both the men's and women's cross country teams at Hartnell College are ranked second in the CCCAA State Rankings. The Panther men have been undefeated during the 2021 season with surprising victories at the Norcal Preview back on September 10 and again at the Mt. SAC Invitational on October 15. Sophomore Isaac Gensel has lead the team on every cross country course and was just one second behind freshman Esteban Deniz in the Chabot Twilight 5k race.
The Hartnell women have been just as impressive earning decisive wins in all but one regular season meet this fall. Sophomore Valeria Lozano-Gomez has won two cross country meets taking the overall victory at the Tour de Cuesta on August 27 and at the Norcal Preview September 10. Teammate Sofia Camacho won the Chabot Twilight 3k and the Toro Park Invitational. The Hartnell women faced top ranked Mt. SAC on October 15 and finished second 31 to 40 points on the Mounties home course.
The men are coming off a seventh place finish at the 2019 CCCAA State Championsihp and women were a close fourth just three points from third place Mt. SAC.
