Lady Panthers Sweep The Weekend
The Panthers wrapped up a dominant doubleheader sweep over Modesto Junior College, earning two statement wins to improve to 9–1 on the season in what was a great weekend of softball.
Game 1 ended in six innings as the Panthers secured a 14–6 run-rule victory. The Panthers struck first in the third inning, erupting for four runs. The rally began as the bases were loaded following two hit-by-pitches and a single from Michelle Wallace. Samantha Merillena lifted a sacrifice fly to score Kalea De Leon, and Gianna Calderon followed with a two-run double, driving in Wallace and Jessalyn Casillas. Malaya Carrillo capped the inning with an RBI single, scoring Calderon.
Modesto rallied back to tie the game in the following inning, but the Panthers responded immediately with a six-run fourth inning. Kalea De Leon and Michelle Wallace put themselves in scoring position and were both driven in by Jessalyn Casillas. Calderon stayed hot with another double, moving pinch runner Jillian Lerma to third. Walks to Malaya Carrillo and Gabriela Perez allowed Lerma to score, and Mikayla Sanchez brought home Calderon. Hannah Sanchez added to the surge with a double to score Carrillo.
The Panthers added two more runs in the fifth inning as Gabriela Perez and Malaya Carrillo crossed the plate on hits by Gianna Calderon and Samantha Merillena. In the sixth inning, Hannah Sanchez and Kalea De Leon delivered back-to-back triples, setting up Michelle Wallace to score the final run and walk off the game for the second time this weekend. Mikayla Sanchez picked up the win in the circle.
Game 2 saw the Panthers jump out early with a 2–0 lead in the first inning as Gianna Calderon hit a two-run double, scoring Hannah Sanchez and Kalea De Leon. Modesto answered back in the second inning, scoring four runs while capitalizing on a few Panther miscues. The Panthers quickly responded in the third as Samantha Merillena crushed a two-run triple, bringing home Calderon and Malaya Carrillo.
The Panthers regained the lead in the fourth inning when Michelle Wallace delivered a two-run single, scoring Aaliyah Cordova and Hannah Sanchez. The Panthers' defense and pitching locked in from there, holding the Pirates scoreless the rest of the way. Wallace added an insurance run in the sixth inning, scoring Hannah Sanchez to seal the victory.

Michelle Wallace was also a top performer going 6-9 with 4 RBIs
The Panthers capped off a strong weekend and will look to keep the momentum going as they host Sequoias on Thursday the 12th for a doubleheader at 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m.
