Hartnell vs. Monterey Peninsula
Team Effort For The Win
In their second matchup of the season, the Panthers handled business, defeating the Lobos of Monterey Peninsula College 57–24.
It wasn't perfect from the start. The Panthers opened the game a little slow offensively, but their defensive intensity kept things steady while they searched for rhythm. As halftime approached, the flow began to click, the ball started moving, shots began falling, and the energy shifted.
Bleona Agushi led the way with 17 points, and in the second half she was surgical. She picked the defense apart, attacked gaps, and finished strong on the other end. Her poise and confidence elevated the offense when it mattered most.
Areli Maciel added 11 points, putting on a show in the paint. She controlled the glass, scored through contact, and stepped out to knock down mid-range jumpers, a complete performance inside and out. Whatever magic was in that athletic training tape job by Mia, worked!
Meanwhile, Mia Henson was orchestrating it all. She was dropping dimes throughout the night, feeding the post for easy finishes and pushing tempo in transition.
Defensively, the tone was set by effort and heart. Aileen played relentless defense, competing every possession and continuing to prove why she's such an incredible teammate and energy giver.
It was another total team effort, defense fueling offense, unselfish ball movement, and contributions across the board. The Panthers now shift their focus as they prepare for the conference championship matchup on Wednesday, February 18against San Jose City College.
