Bio

Prior to Hartnell: Competed in three years of cross country at North Salinas High school. Twice placed fifth and once sixth in the league championship. Placed as high as eighteenth at the Central Coast Section Championship.

"Thankfully Sofia showed great reslience when faced with the uncertainty of a pandemic school year. She did the best she could to train through the fall and into the spring when we finally returned to minimal in-person training. The spring alloted her a chance to run some high quality track meets and see the collegiate 5k distance. Her 5000m as a freshman would rank her as the second best behind Malena Grover's 17:52. Cross country is still being learned for Sofia with those new personal bests its going to come a lot quicker this fall. Sofia has a shot to become All-American in her first true season much like her high school teammate Valeria did in 2019. Combined they make a formidable twosome for other teams to deal with come state."
