Bio

Prior to Hartnell: Karla competed for four years in both cross country and track & field for Marina High School. She improved each season and placed 26th overall in the newly formed PCAL Championship as a junior. An injury and the pandemic hampered her final season as a Mariner but she did get an opportunity to compete at the Clovis Invitational as a sophomore.

"Karla did a great job managing online learning as a freshman and took advantage of the return to training and limited competition opportunities we got last spring. She got a chance to lower some track personal bests and even tour the Woodward Park course successfully in preparation for her first true cross country season as a Panther. I was really impressed with the work she did before our summer training started. It catapulted her into our top 2-3 runners and made the women an even more difficult team to beat. Watch out for Karla to contend for first-team all-region in her first full season back."
